Advent has continued its outreach commitments and a rich parish life maintained by friendly, supportive and involved church members.

Worship

Sunday services begin at 8:00 a.m. in the chapel with The Book of Common Prayer Rite l. The early service has a small regular group of members who then meet for coffee and conversation.

This service is followed by a variety of activities including Bible study for adults and Christian education for youth.

At 10:00 a.m. a blended service is celebrated at the main altar using Prayer Book Rite 2 and a combination of hymnal and praise music. Coffee hour and fellowship for adults and youth follow in Sibley Hall.

Ministries of Worship

Music

On most Sundays, our service provides a blend of traditional hymns accompanied by the organ, with contemporary praise music led by singers and backed up by piano, guitar and drums.

Eucharistic

At Advent, Eucharistic Ministers perform the dual functions of chalice bearer and worship leader, also known as lay reader. Ministers serve once or twice a month, reading the lessons of the day or the Prayers of the People.

Ushers

The ushers play a visible role during the church service at Advent, assisting the rector and congregation in making the service flow smoothly. Other duties range from welcoming visitors to distributing the altar flowers.

Altar Guild

What better way to serve God in His church than to set a perfect table where communion wine and wafers are consecrated. The Altar Guild cares for and maintains all altar vessels and linens.

Other Ministries

Other Ministries include the Healing Ministry, the Prayer Chain, the Pastoral Care Group, Healing/Prayer Ministers, Lay Eucharistic Visitors, the Hospitality Committee, and the Newcomer Greeters Committee.
