The Rev. Kevin Warner
A former teacher and
coach, Kevin meshes his enthusiastic teaching
style with sound Biblical principles that
appeals to all ages. Kevin, a life-long
Episcopalian, grew up in Michigan, received his
B.A. in English Education with a Music Minor
(trumpet) from Olivet College. It was
there he met the love of his life, Sue, and they
were married after graduating in 1980.
After working for two years in Southeast
Michigan as a teacher, coach, sports official
and youth counselor, he and Sue left for
Virginia.
Kevin is a graduate (1985)
of Virginia Theological Seminary, and was active
on the undefeated football team, and the nearly
undefeated basketball team. He authored
two columns for the Ambo, the seminary's
newspaper. He has since served as adjunct
faculty, team teaching a course in parish
leadership.
After seminary he served
three years as Assistant Rector at Grace
Episcopal Church in Anderson, South Carolina.
In 1998 he returned to Michigan and became the
youngest (29) rector in the diocese serving St.
Katherine's in Williamston. In 1994 he was
unanimously called to be the rector at Advent
Episcopal Church in West Bloomfield (formerly
Orchard Lake).
Currently, Kevin serves on
the Board of Directors for ACTS 29 Ministries
(formerly ERM), the largest Episcopal para-church
organization; and has served on various Diocese
of Michigan Committees and as Dean of the
Capital-area Convocation. He and Sue have
four boys; Kyle (20), Cameron (18), Trevor (16),
and Tristan (13). Kevin enjoys most
sports, the outdoors, and his black lab.

Brian McNeal
Growing up in the Episcopal Church, attending
Episcopal schools and later becoming a part of
the Diocese camping ministry as a young adult,
Brian McNeal brings a wealth of experience as
youth and young adult lay minister.
Brian, a native of Detroit, began working with
young people at Camp Gordonwood performing in a
variety of full-time roles from ’92-’94 and
later as a Christian education program director
from ’95 – ’97. He went on to serve as youth
director at St. James Episcopal Church in
Dexter, MI. In addition to his experiences
within the church, Brian has worked with the
YMCA of Greater Hartford, CT and with the Boy
Scouts of America.
He attended Eastern Michigan University (EMU)
from ’92 – ’97 before enlisting in the United
States Navy where he served five years as a
journalist and public affairs specialist. He
returned to EMU in ’03 to continue work on his
degree in Public Affairs.
After a semester at EMU, Brian took a public
relations position with the Michigan Credit
Union League, a trade organization for over 250
Michigan credit unions. In August of 2006, he
joined Advent Episcopal Church and began his
ministry with the youth and young adults. |
